Flamenco Arts Festival
The Flamenco Arts Festival celebrates Hispanic heritage through world-class flamenco performances and educational programs, with a focus on accessibility for all. Our mission is to deepen appreciation and understanding of flamenco by offering live performances, workshops, and other educational opportunities while fostering cultural exchange and community engagement. FAF is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of the community and believes everyone should have the opportunity to experience the transformative power of the arts.
Flamenco!SB
Flamenco!SB offers shows for the community to experience authentic Flamenco with internationally recognized artists; supports flamenco artists and musicians who come from all over the world to perform during the Old Spanish Days Fiesta and throughout the year; sponsors the dance company, ¡FLAMENCO! Santa Barbara, led by artistic director Maria "La Chacha" Bermudez, which performs year-round in the community; hosts Peña Flamenca (jam sessions) and guest artist masterclasses by visiting artists from Spain and beyond; and provides need-based scholarships to local students. We believe that dance provides growth, creativity, expression and instills confidence, a sense of community, and respect for history.
Folk Orchestra of Santa Barbara
The Folk Orchestra is a LOCAL ensemble full of the area’s best musicians playing a rich amalgam of folk and classical. The 30 piece ensemble features bagpipes, mandolins, acoustic guitars, Irish whistles, harp, and flute, with a full contingent of classical strings – violins, violas, cellos, and double bass.
Santa Barbara Blues Society
The oldest blues society in the United States, the Santa Barbara Blues Society is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the African-American blues tradition. We sponsor and produce several major performances each year bringing national and regional blues stars to Santa Barbara and support the local blues scene through this website, the Blues Lovers email list, Blues News newsletter, other promotions, and informal gatherings.

Acoustic Music & the Guitar
"The guitar is a whole lot more than a guitar....
there's a whole attitude towards life wrapped up in it" (Charles Fox)

"Acoustic music is the timeless sound of nature and resonating materials – wood, bone, gourd, gut and skin. It predates the spoken language of modern culture, crossing all borders and barriers. It speaks to great, universal truths of very personal, yet familiar stories. Those stories keep legacies alive, allow them to be shared, and create new ones going forward".
(Derek Johnson aka Musicalist)
Music is unparalleled in both its reflection of and impact on human culture, developing across time, place, religion and culture. It is the door to our souls, the balm for our spirit, an inspiration to feel deeply, our common language, and the heart of community.
Acoustic instruments were dictated by the flora and fauna of each area, evolving and cross fertilizing as people migrated across the world. The humble guitar is known for its enormous musical versatility across all cultures and genres. It is the voice of people to tell their stories, and attainable to everyone regardless of wealth or status.
